    Description:

    The Department of Languages, Literatures and Linguistics, Faculty of Arts, York University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Linguistics, commencing July 1, 2003, subject to budgetary approval.

    Qualifications: Ph.D., strong research record, publications and demonstrable teaching ability. The successful candidate's primary area of specialization will be in the area of quantitative sociolinguistics and language variation and change. As well, the candidate will have a secondary specialization in phonology or syntax. In addition to teaching responsibilities at the undergraduate level, the successful applicant will be expected to teach in our graduate programme in Theoretical and Applied Linguistics.

Applicants should also arrange to have three letters of recommendation sent to the Department Chair by the deadline and should list the name, position, e-mail address and telephone numbers of those referees on the application letter.
