    Description:

    The Department of Linguistics and Germanic, Slavic, Asian and African Languages at Michigan State University will make a tenure-track appointment in Computational Linguistics at the Assistant Professor level, pending approval of the Provost, to begin on or after August 15, 2003. Ph.D. in Linguistics, Computer Science, or a closely related field required by time of appointment. Candidates should be able to demonstrate the relevance of their research interests to issues in theoretical linguistics, such as syntax, formal semantics, discourse representation theory, language acquisition or sentence processing.

    This position will complement strengths in formal linguistics and psycholinguistics in the Cognitive Science Program. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the teaching and research mission of the Linguistics program and also to interact extensively with faculty and graduate students in the Cognitive Science Program and the recently funded NSF IGERT program http://www.cogsci.msu.edu/IGERT. Therefore, we are seeking individuals whose research is highly integrative and interdisciplinary.
