Description:
Williams College invites applications in a multi-departmental search
for a new tenure-track position in Linguistics to begin in the Fall of
2003. Rank of Assistant Professor, although a senior appointment is
possible under exceptional circumstances. The successful candidate
will be broadly trained in theoretical Linguistics, specialization
open. Ph.D. in hand or expected by September 2003. Teaching load to
consist of four semester courses per year and a four-week Winter Study
Term every other year. At least two of the semester courses will be
introductory courses in General Linguistics. The remaining two courses
will normally be in another field, but may also be in Linguistics.
Departments involved in the search include Anthropology and Sociology,
Asian Studies, Classics, Computer Science, German and Russian,
Psychology, Philosophy, and Romance Languages. The successful
candidate will have a strong interest in teaching on the undergraduate
level and in developing the College's Linguistics curriculum.

appropriate professional conferences, such as the Linguistic Society
