Description:
The Department of Romance and Classical Languages at Michigan State
University seeks an applied linguist to take a leadership role in the
development of a high quality and effective language curriculum in a
newly revised undergraduate Spanish program and the MA program in
Applied Spanish Linguistics.
Qualifications: Ph.D. in Spanish linguistics completed by date of
appointment (16 August, 2003), native or near-native fluency in
Spanish and English, demonstrated excellence in teaching and research.
Specialization in second language acquisition/pedagogy or other
relevant fields and a record of accomplishment in effective language
curriculum development.
Expectations: Effective leadership in the development and maintenance
of the Spanish language program. Innovative collaborations with MSU's
Study Abroad programs and the Language Learning Center. Effective
teaching and curriculum at both the undergraduate and graduate levels;
scholarly agenda consistent with a research-intensive, land-grant
institution. Participation in the college general education program,
via the Center for Integrative Studies in the Arts and Humanities
(IAH), and in other interdisciplinary centers, such as the Center for
Language Education and Research (CLEAR) and the Center for Latin
American and Caribbean Studies (CLACS).
