Description:
The Department of Linguistics and English Language at Brigham Young
University announces a tenure-track, professorial position in
theoretical or applied linguistics. To be considered, applicants must
have a strong background in computation and language (e.g., natural
language processing, computer-assisted language learning,
instructional technology with an emphasis on language teaching, or
computational linguistics) and hold a PhD (or show strong promise of
completion by the date of hire).
Primary responsibilities involve teaching fundamental computing
courses for non-computer-science students and more advanced courses in
a designated area of specialization. Additional expectations include
supervising graduate students and conducting research and creative
work involving computing and language. Faculty are also expected to
share other typical professorial responsibilities, such as committee
service, student advising, and professional service.
Starting rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and
experience.
