    Meeting Description:

Over the last decade Spain has witnessed an upsurge of interest in Cognitive Linguistics among scholars from different disciplines. The expansion of this research framework has given rise to the creation of a local branch of the ICLA, AELCO/SCOLA (Spanish Cognitive Linguistics Association), whose current president is Juana Marin Arrese (Complutense University of Madrid), Antonio Barcelona (University of Murcia) having been the first president of the association. AELCO/SCOLA has generously offered to sponsor our proposal to hold the 2003 biannual meeting of ICLA at the University of La Rioja. Support has also been received from Spanish and European universities actively involved in research in Cognitive Linguistics (Cordoba, Madrid, Murcia, Zaragoza, Hamburg, Amsterdam, among others).
