The summer conference of the Society for Pidgin and Creole Linguistics
will be held August 14-17 2003 at the Imin International Conference
Center at the University of Hawai'i in Honolulu. The call for papers
and information about accommodation can be found on the SPCL '03 web

This is first SPCL conference to be held in the Pacific region! In
addition to the usual papers on the linguistic aspects of pidgins,
creoles and other language contact varieties, SPCL '03 will feature
special sessions on creole literature and applied issues. Other
highlights include cultural and scenic tours, Asian-Pacific food and
entertainment and the chance to hear Hawai`i Creole English (locally
