    ANNOUNCEMENT OF TEACHING POSITION

    European and American Studies I (English) at Tokyo University of Foreign Studies is inviting applications for the following position:

    Academic rank and the number of openings: Visiting Associate Professor or Foreign Instructor; one opening.

    Position: European and American Studies I (English), Faculty of Foreign Studies

    Teaching responsibilities: Eight undergraduate courses (12 contact hours) including the following: (1) English as a major foreign language for 1st and/or 2nd-year students (2) Oral and written English expression (3) English as a minor foreign language (4) English for prospective teachers

    Field of specialization: Preferably, TEFL or English composition

    Qualifications: (1) Completion of a Ph.D course or equivalent research experience

    (2) A native speaker of English of age 35 to 45 at the time of employment. Some proficiency in Japanese would be desirable. Duration of employment: April 1, 2004 through March 31, 2006, with the possibility of one renewal.

    Documents to be submitted: (1) One copy of curriculum vitae (2) One copy of list of publications (3) Three major publications (not in any bound format but in a one-sided A 4-sized Xeroxed copy format) (4) One English description of research agenda of up to 1,000 words (5) One sample syllabus for a prospective course entitled Academic Writing
