    Description:

    The Department of Linguistics, University of Nijmegen, The Netherlands, invites applications for a half-time (0.5 fte) Chair in Applied Linguistics at Full Professorship level. Until recently, the Joint Chair in Applied Linguistics and Linguistic Variation was occupied by Professor Kees de Bot and Professor Roeland van Hout, but with the departure of the former, a vacancy now exists for someone who will assume content-related and administrative responsibility for teaching and research in applied linguistics and language and speech pathology.

    We are looking for candidates with demonstrable qualities in researching and teaching empirical linguistics, attracting research projects, and supervising MA and PhD theses. Additional administrative experience is considered an advantage.

    Candidates should be thoroughly acquainted with the fields of second language acquisition and multilingualism, and at least one of the following fields:

    - The teaching of Dutch as a Second Language - Language and speech pathology - Neurolinguistics - The methodology of empirical research

    Candidates must have sufficient affinity with the remaining fields to be able to provide leadership to the department specialists in these areas.

    The successful candidate must be sufficiently acquainted with research and teaching in the field of Linguistic Variation to be able to co-operate fully with the occupant of the Chair of Linguistic Variation.
