Qs: Turkic Lang Journals, Corpora/Women's Titles

Editor for this issue: Karen Milligan <karenlinguistlist.org>

We'd like to remind readers that the responses to queries are usually best posted to the individual asking the question. That individual is then strongly encouraged to post a summary to the list. This policy was instituted to help control the huge volume of mail on LINGUIST; so we would appreciate your cooperating with it whenever it seems appropriate.

In addition to posting a summary, we'd like to remind people that it is usually a good idea to personally thank those individuals who have taken the trouble to respond to the query.

    Dear colleagues,

I've written an article on the phonostatistical distances between Turkish and other Turkic languages. I compare the sound picture of Turkish to some 13 Turkic languages (Azeri, Altai, Kazah, Karakalpak, Kirgiz, Kumandin, Tatar-Kazan, Tatar-Baraba, Turkmen, Uygur, Uzbek, Hakas and Yakut).

However, because Russia is a poor country with no fascilities for information, the situation with receiving linguistic information is really bad for me. I've got no access to web sites and no e-mail addresses of the linguistics journals in which I might publish my article. May I ask you all to be so kind as to send me some useful e-mail addresses of the linguistic journals, especially those published in Turkey? Looking forward to hearing from you soon.

    Sincerely yours, Yuri Tambovtsev

I am looking for research on the use of women's titles in corpora of American English. I am especially interested in the frequency of title use in spoken English. I am not terribly concerned (at this point) with who, when or why particular titles are used. Any suggestions?
