    Visiting Assistant Professor or Instructor ESL/TESL

    The English Department of Bowling Green State University seeks strong applicants for a visiting assistant professor or instructor in English as a Second Language/Teaching English as a Second Language (one-year position).

    Duties: Teaching MATESL courses, especially Theories and Research in TESL; teaching ESL and undergraduate Linguistics, possibly undergraduate grammar (for English Education students). Starting date: August 2002.

    Qualifications: 1) ABD or PhD in applied linguistics, TESL, or related area; experience teaching ESL/EFL. Experience with testing and placement preferred. 2) Experience teaching both ESL (preferred) and first-year composition courses (desirable).

    Salary: Competitive and commensurate with peer institution levels for rank and position, and in keeping with candidate's experience and credentials.

    Effective Date of Employment: The starting date of employment is August 2002.

    BGSU is a university of nearly 19,000 students with long traditions of teaching and scholarly excellence. It is located in a small city 25 minutes south of Toledo, Ohio, and one hour south of Ann Arbor, Michigan. The English Department offers undergraduate degrees as well as graduate degrees in rhetoric, literature, creative writing, technical communication, and TESL. The Department has a full-time instructional staff of 68, about 450 undergraduate majors, and 74 graduate students, including 13 in TESL.
