Grammatical Polysemy - The Case of Russian Imperfective Aspect

Location: Leipzig, Germany Date: 24-Feb-2003 - 25-Feb-2003 Web Site: http://www.uni-leipzig.de/~gksprach/asp_ws/index.html Contact Person: Barbara Sonnenhauser Meeting Email: basonnerz.uni-leipzig.de Linguistic Subfield(s): General Linguistics Subject Language(s): Russian

    Meeting Description:

The workshop will address the problem of accounting for the diversity of meanings associated with the Russian imperfective verbform. Is it possible to derive all possible readings of the imperfective from one underlying semantic invariant by means of an elaborate pragmatic theory? Or should at least some cases better be treated as instances of grammatical polysemy?

guest speakers: Olga Borik (Utrecht), Hana Filip (Stanford), Wolfgang Klein (Nijmegen), Hans Robert Mehlig (Kiel), Anita Steube (Leipzig), Sabine Stoll (Leipzig), Sergej Tatevosov (Moscow), T.Zybatow / L.Szucsic(Leipzig) More information (e.g. schedule) can be found at http://www.uni-leipzig.de/~gksprach/asp_ws/index.html
