GermaNet-Workshop: Anwendungen des deutschen Wortnetzes in Theorie und Praxis

    09.-10.10.2003 (Beginn am 09.10.2003 um 14:00 Uhr)

Seminar fuer Sprachwissenschaft Abteilung Computerlinguistik Universitaet Tuebingen

GermaNet-Workshop: Applications of the German Wordnet in Theory und Practice

09.-10.10.2003 (Beginning of the workshop on 09.10.2003 at 2:00 P.M.)

Seminar fuer Sprachwissenschaft Abteilung Computerlinguistik Universitaet Tuebingen

    - --------------------------------------------------------------- Lexical-semantic wordnets following the lines of the Princeton WordNet have become popular resources within the fields of computational linguistics and natural language processing.

This workshop aims at bringing together users and developers of the German wordnet GermaNet in order to exchange results and experiences as well as discuss desiderata and perspectives related to GermaNet resp. wordnets in general. The German wordnet is being applied in various natural language processing tasks and on the Semantic Web. Obtaining feedback from various users is also very important for the further development of the ressource.

The workshop mainly addresses researchers and users from the German-speaking community in order to keep costs low for participants. (An international forum will be provided by the Global Wordnet Conference, taking place at Brno, Czech, in January 2004: http://www.fi.muni.cz/gwc2004/). Since this workshop is generously sponsored by the GLDV, no conference fees will be charged. The number of participants is limited to **35** so that early registration is strongly recommended.

Papers and presentations are welcome on, among others, the following topics: * application of GermaNet in natural language processing techniques w.r.t Information Retrieval, Document Classification, Automatic Text Summarization, etc. * employment of GermaNet in Word Sense Disambiguation * use of GermaNet for semantic tagging of corpora * employment of GermaNet in various language processing tools * theoretical research based on GermaNet, as with respect to lexical-semantic fields, selectional preferences, etc. * extensions of wordnets (terminologies, collocations, idioms) * relations to ontologies, the Semantic Web, Hypertext, RDF, XML, etc.

Papers should not exceed 10 pages, including bibliography, figures, and acknowledgements, and should be written in German or English. The stylesheet for submitting contributions will be published very soon on our website: http://www.sfs.uni-tuebingen.de/lsd/GermaNet-Workshop/.

Registration and/or requests are possible from now on: Claudia Kunze (kunzesfs.uni-tuebingen.de) - -------------------------------------------------------------- Important Dates:
