    Description:

    As a speech scientist specializing in a foreign language, you will be working with application development teams to deploy leading edge telephony applications in the telephone network, in major corporate call centers. You will be helping us adapt our existing speech technology to your language of expertise and contributing to the core technology base. Your knowledge of what is important for these deployments will guide your contributions to ScanSoft's core technology, adding features and functionality to the technology, and developing new technologies for next generation products.

    - Act as technical lead on customer projects with a heavy emphasis on speech technology in your language of expertise.

    - As a design and development consultant, work across application development teams to ensure best possible recognition performance for projects in our solutions business. Take active role in incorporating new speech recognition and/or natural language technology into solutions projects.

    - In between applications work, or as agreed in the quarterly plan, design and implement improvements to ScanSoft core recognition technology and tools.

    - Provide technical sales support in analyzing the feasibility, cost, and likely performance of new types of recognition tasks for customer proposals. Assist in preparing these portions of written responses, and more generally representing our technical capabilities in customer presentations and meetings.

    - Educate customers about the unique aspects of speech application development and guide them to ultimately successful applications.

    - Serve as cultural bridge between customers, solutions teams in the field and headquarter-based technology team.
