Subject: Aleut Syntax and Discourse: Grad Student, U/Alaska
The Alaska native Language Center has available a graduate research
assistantship for work through an NSF-funded grant to study Aleut
syntax and discourse. Remuneration is in the amount of up to $16,900
(depending on graduate status and level) plus tuition and fees.
Position is funded from September 1, 2004 through August 31, 2006.
The research assistant is employed for 20 hours/week over the 9-month
academic year and full-time during the summer.
Work will include summer fieldwork, text collection, transcription and
translation, analysis, and language elicitation for the purpose of
language learning materials development. Preference will be given to
students with a demonstrated interest in Aleut, language endangerment,
or descriptive syntax and discourse.
