From: linguist <linguistlinguistlist.org>
Subject: Supporting Publishers and The Publications Area

Dear LINGUIST List Subscribers,

In the past year the publications area of the LINGUIST List has truly
flourished and become a major part of our organization. This is due
in large part to the generosity of our supporting publishers. We
would therefore like to first thank our many supporting publishers,
who supply a significant amount of the funds that help continue to
make LINGUIST List a free service for all of our subscribers. Many of
our publishers have supported the list since the beginning, and
through their support we managed to raise a record $19,320 in 2003!

We would therefore like to thank all 31 of the publishers who have
chosen to continue their support for 2004, and welcome our two new
publishers:

Equinox Publishing Ltd.
Georgetown University Press

With the amount of support we generated in 2003 LINGUIST List was also
able to add a variety of features which we feel are extremely helpful
and beneficial to our subscribers and anyone searching the LINGUIST
List site.

The new features for 2003-2004 include:

* LL+ ENHANCED USER-FRIENDLINESS
Blackwell Publishers continue to be a LINGUIST List Publishing Partner
and generously support us via LINGUIST List Plus (LL+). For a mere
$55.00 per year ($35.00 for students), LL+ subscribers receive:

 * 30% off all book titles plus free shipping
 * 20% off all journals plus free shipping
 * free full online content for selected reference titles,
 including the prestigious Handbooks in Linguistics series.
 * free sample chapters of many titles
 * subscription to LABS (Linguistics Abstracts Online)

And, new for this year, all LL+ subscribers can

 * link to the LL+ shopping cart via the LINGUIST List book
 description pages.

By simply clicking on each Blackwell title's discount, users can login
and be quickly and directly linked to the shopping cart on the LL+
site, thus circumventing the hassle of searching for the title twice.

To find out more about LL+ or to subscribe, please point your browser
to:

http://www.linguistlistplus.com

* CAMBRIDGE  LINGUIST LIST
Cambridge University Press became a LINGUIST List Publishing Partner
and is generously paying the stipend and tuition of Neil Salmond, our
new CUP graduate assistant. Included in this deal are a variety of
new enhancements to all Cambridge titles on our website. Now nearly
all CUP titles include:

 * one-click shopping cart access
 * cover images
 * tables of contents
 * sample chapters

To try these new features, simply search for any Cambridge title using
our book search forms.

Each of these features was added to benefit our subscribers at
absolutely no cost to you. We of course plan to continue to add more
user friendliness and further features this coming year, but of course
none of this is possible without your donations. Please donate to
LINGUIST List and continue to keep these features free.

**********************************************************************

We have already raised over $17,000! Please help us reach our target
of $60,000. Even a small donation really does make a difference!

As a 501(c)3 organization, LINGUIST qualifies for corporate
donation-matching programs; and, of course, your donation is tax
deductible.

Message 2: How to Donate...

Date: 16 Mar 2004 08:56:08 -0000
From: linguist <linguistlinguistlist.org>
Subject: How to Donate...

This Year the LINGUIST List hope to raise $60,000. This money will go
to help keep the List running, by supporting all of our Student Editors
for the coming year.

There are many ways to donate to LINGUIST!

You can donate right now using our secure credit card form, at:
http://www.linguistlist.org/donate.html

You can also pledge right now and pay later, at:
http://www.linguistlist.org/pledge.html

For all information on donating, including information on how to
donate by check, money order, or wire transfer, please visit:
http://www.linguistlist.org/donation.html

ALREADY PLEDGED?
If you have already pledged to LINGUIST and would now like to pay
by credit card, please go to:

http://linguistlist.org/creditcard-general.html

and select 'PAY PREVIOUS PLEDGE' as the Type of Payment from the
dropdown list provided.

The LINGUIST List is under the umbrella of Eastern Michigan University
and as such can receive donations through the EMU Foundation, which is
a registered 501(c) Non Profit organization. Our Federal Tax number
is 38-6005986. These donations can be offset against your federal and
sometimes your state tax return (U.S. tax payers only). For more
information visit the IRS Web-Site, or contact your financial advisor.

Many companies also offer a gift matching program, such that they will
match any gift you make to a non-profit organization. Normally this
entails your contacting your human resources department and sending us
a form that the EMU Foundation fills in and returns to your employer.
This is generally a simple administrative procedure that doubles the
value of your gift to LINGUIST, without costing you an extra penny.
Please take a moment to check if your company operates such a program.

Thank you very much for your support of LINGUIST!
