Meeting Description:
This workshop focuses on original papers that deal with the
interaction between morphology and syntax (as in agreement, case,
functional categories, ellipsis) from a generative perspective. The
goal is to allow the exchange of research between closely related
fields and discuss recent theoretical positions (such as Distributed
Morphology and the Copy Theory of Movement) with respect to how they
deal with morphology-syntax interface problems. This workshop focuses
on original papers that deal with the interaction between morphology

from a generative perspective. The goal is to allow the exchange of
research between closely related fields and discuss recent theoretical

The following invited speakers will be present at the workshop: Elena
Benedicto (Purdue University), Jorge Hankamer (University of
California at Santa Cruz), Jason Merchant (University of Chicago),
Francisco Ordoñez (SUNY Stony Brook) and Josep Quer (ICREA &
University of Barcelona).
The workshop will take place July 1-2, 2004 at Universidad de Buenos
Aires (Facultad de Filosofía y Letras) in Buenos Aires,
Argentina. There will be no parallel sessions. The time allotted for
each presentation is of 30 minutes plus 10 minutes for questions.
Abstracts should be send to the following e-mail address:
coloquiomfsxyahoo.com.ar by March 31, 2004. Abstracts should be of
one A4 page in Times New Roman 10, single spaced.
The workshop will be followed by a Winter School in Linguistics
(EILIN, Escuela de Invierno de Lingüística) that will take place at
Escuela Superior de Idiomas, Universidad Nacional del Comahue, in
General Roca, Río Negro, Patagonia, Argentina. The faculty will
include most of the invited speakers at the workshop. The Winter
School in Linguistics will take place between July 5-14, 2004. The
full schedule of courses will be made available in April of 2004.
