The specialization is open. However, preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated research interest in one or more of the following areas: multilingualism, language contact, social dialectology, language variation, and discourse analysis. Candidate should be prepared to teach both undergraduate and graduate courses in sociolinguistics. The salary is commensurate with experience. The appointment will start on August 16, 2005. The ideal candidate will be someone whose research interests complement and build on existing strengths of the department and who is eager to engage with students and faculty in the broader linguistic community at UIUC.
