Meeting Description:
This conference meets triennually and focusses on issues relating to
regional, social and historical variation in any language or group of
languages. The theme of Methods XII, Innovative Approaches in
Dialectology, addresses recent theoretical and methodological trends.
Methods XII, the Twelfth International Conference on Methods in
Dialectology, will be held from 1 to 5 August 2005 at the Université de
Moncton, Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada. This conference meets
triennually and focusses on issues relating to regional, social and
historical variation in any language or group of languages. The theme of
Methods XII, Innovative Approaches in Dialectology, addresses recent
theoretical and methodological trends. A sub-theme, Identity and Contact,
highlights language contact situations such as those found in New
Brunswick, Canada's only officially bilingual (English-French) province.

Abstracts and Papers
Abstracts for papers are invited on any topic in regional, social and
historical language variation. Presentations will be 20 minutes in length
followed by a 10-minute discussion period. Abstracts should be 300-400
words long, excluding bibliography, and they should be submitted either by
regular post to the address given below or by e-mail as RTF (or as ASCII
text) files to: methodsxii

information with your submission: name, affiliation, e-mail address,
postal address, status (faculty member/student/other). Suggestions for
special sessions or workshops are welcome and should be submitted to the
Organizing Committee before the submission deadline.
Abstract deadline: 15 October 2004
Authors will be notified of acceptance by January 2005.

The 15th Colloquium on Hispanic and Luso-Brazilian Literatures and Romance
Linguistics will be hosted by the Graduate Student Organization of the
Department of Spanish and Portuguese at the University of Texas at Austin,
Austin, TX. This colloquium is organized by graduate students in order to
give other graduate students an opportunity to share their current work.
You are invited to submit papers on all topics related to Hispanic and
Luso-Brazilian Literatures and Romance Linguistics.
Abstract Information: Please submit a 250 word abstract postmarked by
November 30, 2004. Abstracts may be sent via post-mail or e-mail. Do not
include any personal information on the abstract. The abstract itself
should consist of only the title of the paper and abstract. On a separate
page please include the following information: title of your presentation,
name, e-mail address, institution address, office and home phone numbers.
Submissions of panels (not to exceed three papers) are encouraged.
