Description:
Penn Language Center at the University of Pennsylvania invites applications
for a full-time American Sign Language Coordinator position, to begin in
Fall 2005.
Qualifications: Native or near-native proficiency in ASL. Ph.D. or MA in
Deaf studies, (applied) linguistics, foreign language education, or
equivalent field of study. A minimum of three years' ASL teaching
experience, program coordination preferred. Must have American Sign
Language Teachers' Association certification or be prepared to obtain
certification during first year of appointment. Must have excellent
supervisory and administrative skills. Familiarity with instructional
technology or web site development highly recommended.
Duties include:
- Coordinating and managing the ASL program;
- Recruiting, training, and supervising part-time ASL faculty;
- Curriculum development and course design;
- Advising ASL students
- Teaching five ASL courses per year
