 Meeting Description: 
 
 The GALA Conference has been characterized over the years by a peculiar
 comparative character, with talks ranging from research on L1, adult and
 child L2, bilingual acquisition, to developmental and acquired language
 pathologies of different sorts. The theoretically oriented studies on
 language acquisition and language pathology has permitted significant
 advances in these research areas, and at the same time has provided novel
 kinds of evidence for the refinement of linguistic theory. 
 
 Within this trend of studies, the conference will be introduced by a
 workshop to be held in the morning of Thursday September 8th, devoted to:
 'Comparative Studies of Acquisition and Pathology: the Role of Linguistic
 Theory'. 
 
 The main conference will focus on L1, L2, Bilingual Acquisition, Language
 Pathologies in Phonology, Morphology, Syntax, Morphosyntax, Semantics,
 Pragmatics in different languages and different settings, and on Sign
 Language and Brain Imaging research for acquisition and pathology. 
 
 The 2005 GALA Conference will be held in Siena, September 8-10.
 
 We encourage submissions on different areas and modes of first, second and
 bilingual language acquisition and language pathology, on Sign language, on
 comparative acquisition studies, on brain imaging research for acquisition
 and pathology, and on the theoretical relevance of the issues raised by
 acquisition and pathology.
