Meeting Description:
GURT 2004 will focus on syntax, semantics, and computational
linguistics, as pursued from a comparative or cross-linguistic
perspective. We are particularly interested in submissions in the
following areas:
* The syntax and semantics of clause types
* Syntactic variation across varieties of English
* The internal structure of the noun phrase
* Negation, negative polarity, and negative concord
* Tense and aspect in formal and/or computational semantics
* Microvariation in the left periphery of the clause
* Linguistic typology for machine translation
These areas are of special interest to faculty and students at
Georgetown, and we anticipate that there will be special sessions
devoted to them.

Guglielmo Cinque (University of Venice)
Lilliane Haegeman (University of Lille)
James McCloskey (UC Santa Cruz)
Toshiyuki Ogihara (University of Washington)
