Description:
The Language Research Centre (LRC) at the University of Calgary is pleased to announce that applications are now being accepted for a Post-doctoral Fellowship for the 2006-2007 academic year.
The Fellowship holder will be expected to undertake an appropriate research programme in the domain of Language Learning and Literacy, identified as contributing to the University of Calgary's research strengths and constituting one of its areas of international prominence.
The purpose of the fellowship is to provide an opportunity for scholars who have recently completed doctoral studies to pursue further their chosen areas of scholarly research. The post-doctoral fellow will have an office in the LRC and will have the use of the University's Library facilities. They will be expected to share their research in a public lecture and to involve themselves in the community of scholars working at the LRC and focusing on a variety of languages. The Fellowship offers the possibility of work in a multi-disciplinary context with a team of researchers committed to both theoretical and applied research in an area central to the development of a multicultural society and in a context strongly supportive of second language acquisition.
The Fellowship is supported as part of the Province of Alberta's ACCESS grant in second language learning and as such the Fellowship holder will also be expected to participate in one or more of the various LRC projects under this programme.
The deadline to apply is May 15, 2006 at 4:30 p.m. local time.
