At TESOL 2006, I went to a colloquium which linked Heritage Languagespeakers and Generation 1.5 students. Frank Noji from Kapiolani CommunityCollege was particularly informative in this regard.

This was a particularly interesting topic for me since Academic ESL andForeign Languages are housed in the same department at my college.

Frank Noji has been kind enough to send me a first draft of his paper, andthrough that I was able to track down the article in Heritage LanguageJournal, ''Heritage Language Instruction for Post-secondary Students fromImmigrant Backgrounds'' by Kimi Kondo-Brown, University of Hawai'i atManoa. Other articles in the magazine are also interesting.http://www.international.ucla.edu/lrc/hlj/about.asp

I would be interested in other articles that explore the Heritage Languagespeaker population, especially those which look at effective languageteaching methodology for use with adults, particularly in a collegeclassroom setting.
