Meeting Description:
SZAK Publishers, the leading Hungarian IT publishing company, in association with the Interpreter and Translator Training Centre of ELTE University, Budapest, and Kilgray, organizes a one-day seminar on team translation in Budapest, Hungary on Saturday, 27 May 2006.
The Seminar focuses on the problem of completing large-volume projects in a short period of time involving several people in the workflow while maintaining high quality. It addresses linguistic and technical aspects of ensuring quality and consistency on the project level, thus avoiding the common mistake of relying too much on technology.
SZAK publishes titles from Microsoft Press, Addison Wesley, Wiley-Wrox and other publishing houses in Hungarian. Its workflow allows the company to create books ready to market within 8-12 weeks after receiving the original manuscripts. The company's market success provides evidence for the success of its methodology.
Established in 1973, the Interpreter and Translator Training Centre (ITTC) is the oldest interpreter and translator training institution in Hungary. During its more than thirty years of history ITTC has trained over a thousand post-graduate students within the context of its one-year Combined Translator and Consecutive Interpreter Training programme, the European Masters in Conference Interpreting programme and the Translation with European Union Specialisation programme. In 2003 ITTC launched its PhD programme as part of ELTE's PhD School.
Kilgray dedicates itself to developing tools for translators. Its refreshingly new integrated localization environment (ILE) MemoQ allows translators to work better, cheaper, and faster.
