The Dean's duties will include the oversight of the faculty as an academic community, will act as liaison with other faculties within the university, maintain oversight of teaching and learning in both the undergraduate and graduate campuses, be responsible for standards of student performance in examinations external to the university, assist with links to university partners, assist in the promotion of the university to potential students and the wider community.
Requirements for the preferred applicant should include:
- Ph.D. in the language related field taught in the Faculty from a highly reputable institution. - Have some experience in administration management at University level - Some experience in the Japanese tertiary environment would be helpful but is not compulsory - Have a keen and proven interest in research
It is anticipated that the new Dean will take office sometime between Sept 1st 2006 and March 2007.
