Thank you for all the replies to my query regarding Ancient Hebrew and Greek Swadesh lists.
In summary: *** Alice Faber wrote that "Chaim Rabin had a Swadesh list for Hebrew and related languages in his 1975 paper 'Lexicostatistics and the Internal Divisions of Semitic', in the volume Hamito-Semitica, edited by James and Theodora Bynon, Mouton (pp. 85-102)"
*** Israel Cohen listed a number of searchable online Hebrew and Greek sites based on Strong's numbers:
These are:
http://www.Crosswalk.com (or bible.crosswalk.com/Lexicons/Hebrew if you know the number). Words with no hyperlink cannot be directly lined to the interlinearised bible Here: http://bible.crosswalk.com/InterlinearBible/
http://www.htmlbible.com/sacrednamebiblecom/kjvstrongs/STRINDEX.htm
http://www.eliyah.com/lexicon.html - searchable by Hebrew, Greek or English word
http://www.studylight.org/lex/heb/
http://www.accordancebible.com/modules/details.php?ID=127
http://www.tgm.org/bible.htm
http://www.blueletterbible.org/search.html
http://www.bitsbytescomputer.com/store/customer/product.php?productid=6914&cat=100&page=1
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/BPMaps/ - Phoenician body part terms inferred from the Hermes and Aphrodite anthropomorphic maps at the BPMaps website
*** Dr Ghil`ad Zuckermann has compiled a Hebrew Swadesh 100 list ***
Of all these I would recommend http://www.eliyah.com/lexicon.html as the best online resource. There is no advertising so the pages load very quickly and the glosses are good. I am in the process of compiling Hebrew and Greek Swadesh 200 lists based on Robert Blust's system. I can make it available upon request in the form of a fairly primitive excel spreadsheet.
Thanks again,
Piers Kelly.
