CALL FOR PAPERS

The Department of Foreign Languages / Qatar University, is pleased to announce its conference on ''Linguistics in the Arabian Gulf'' to be held on March 14-15. 2007.

We invite contributions in any area of research on the language scene in this region including, but not limited to;-Formal aspects of the Gulf spoken dialects-Contact with other languages-Linguistic variation-Linguistic change-Language planning and language politics-Relation to Standard Arabic-Language and mass media

The Department hopes that the conference will bring together researchers and experts investigating a wide range of topics related to the study of language in the Arabian Gulf region.

Keynote Speaker:Professor Clive Holes, Oxford University

Submission of Abstracts:Abstracts ( of 400 words max) should be submitted electronically as an attachment (in rich text format), to mjbakirqu.edu.qa
