Regarding FYI: http://linguistlist.org/issues/17/17-2097.html

Dear colleagues,

In my recent post to Linguist List (''FYI: (Non)academic Interdisciplinary Career Issues'', http://linguistlist.org/issues/17/17-2097.html) I was looking for other linguists with an interest in discussing outreach, interdisciplinary research, and alternative career directions.

Many thanks to everyone who responded. In this case, I will not mention respondents individually by name, since some people may not want to go publicly and permanently on record as having considered nonacademic work.

A great resource that was brought to my attention is wrk4us, "an international email discussion list on nonacademic careers for people with graduate education in Humanities, Education, and Social Science disciplines":

https://lists.duke.edu/sympa/info/wrk4us

However, I still haven't heard of a discussion group that takes a more linguistic and interdisciplinary perspective on these career issues, so I created one:

http://groups.google.com/group/lingcareer

If you would like to join the discussion, you can add yourself to the group at this website (after joining Google Groups, if you haven't already), or e-mail me and I'll add you. So far, we have some insightful profiles in the ''Introductions'' thread, so check out the archives (membership required).
