The NC State English Department seeks applications for an Assistant Professor with proven record of research in English sociolinguistics, evidence of strong teaching ability, and interests in variation analysis, social network analysis, and discourse analysis. Duties include teaching linguistics courses at the undergraduate and graduate level (3-2 teaching load) as well as active research and publication.
The Department's 57 tenure-track faculty members include 4 faculty in Linguistics. These faculty teach in and administer an undergraduate minor; an MA option in Sociolinguistics in English; and a cooperative PhD program in English Linguistics with Duke University. Candidates are expected to take an active role in research projects conducted under the North Carolina Language and Life Project.
Qualifications: PhD in Linguistics or Sociolinguistics and strong record of scholarship in the field.
