REMINDER:CALL FOR PAPERS: LINGUISTICS AND MEDIA DISCOURSERevista Alicantina de Estudios Ingleses (RAEI) is an international andpeer-reviewed Journal on English Studies published annually since 1988 bythe University of Alicante (Spain).

RAEI is currently preparing a Special Issue on linguistic analyses of mediadiscourse(s). We would like to invite any contributors who are doingresearch on this field to participate in this volume which will appear in2006. Papers dealing with any contribution that linguistics can make to theanalysis of media discourses will be welcome, either theoretical ofpractical applications.

Any area of linguistics is welcome (systemic linguistics, semantics, general pragmatics, relevance theory, discourse analysis, criticaldiscourse analysis, conversation analysis, politeness theory, speech acttheory, interactional sociolinguistics, nonverbal communication, etc.) andthey can be applied to a wide range of media discourses (the press, TVdiscourse, film discourse, Internet discourse, advertising, cartoons, comics, radio discourse, etc.). Preferrably, contributions should deal withmedia discourses in English, but applications to other languages will alsobe welcome, provided that the articles are written in English. We think that this area of linguistic research is underdeveloped andthat a special volume like this one will no doubt contribute to a betterunderstanding of how it can be applied to these media discourses.

Contributions, which should not be longer than 12.000 words, should besubmitted before March 31st 2006, complying with the general RAEIguidelines for the submission of manuscripts which are accessible at thefollowing Internet address:

http://www.ua.es/dpto/dfing/publicaciones/instructions.html

Manuscripts (2 hard copies) should be sent to the following address:
