Description:

Responsibilities for this 39-week appointment include conducting research, teaching, mentoring students, seeking extramural funding and participating in departmental and professional service. Candidates at the Assistant Professor rank should show promise or beginning evidence of a successful funding trajectory. Applicants at the Associate Professor level should demonstrate an established track record of research and extramural funding. Preference will be given to individuals with a research focus in language acquisition, development, disorders, and/or literacy, however, other areas will also be considered. A PhD or equivalent in speech-language pathology or related field is required by the time of employment and clinical certification (CCC-SLP) is desirable.

The Department currently offers Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) as well as a Clinical Doctorate in Audiology. A PhD program in Communication Sciences and Disorders is under development. Additionally, an interdisciplinary doctorate in Neuroscience offers opportunities to recruit doctoral students from related disciplines. The Department has a long history of externally funded research and the University is ranked # 1 by US News and World Reports for its practice-oriented cooperative education programs. Our clinic is housed in the state-of-the-art Behrakis Health Sciences Center which affords interdisciplinary collaborations. There are also numerous opportunities for collaborative research through established links with other reputable departments within the University and with highly regarded medical and educational institutions in the Greater Boston community.
