Description: The Institut für Deutsche Sprache is offering a 2 year half-time research position, with the possibility of a 1 year extension, in a typological project starting in January 2007 (cf. http://www.ids-mannheim.de/gra/eurostudien.html). The research focuses on the phonetic/phonological evidence for word-internal prosodic domains, with the goal of comparing the respective lexical representations in the contrast languages (especially English, French, German, Hungarian, and Polish). This research would also be well suited as a dissertation project. Candidates are expected to have a university degree (at the level of a Master or PhD) in Linguistics. Disabled candidates are given a preference, if equally qualified.
