The XVII CGG will be held at the University of Girona (Catalonia - Spain) on June 13th-15th.

The invited speakers will be:

Paola Benincà (Università di Padova)Josep M. Brucart (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona)Richard S. Kayne (New York University)

Linguists working in the theoretical framework of Generative Grammar are invited to participate. Abstracts can be written in any Romance language or English. The language used in the abstract and during the conference should be the same. Each paper presentation will be 30 minutes, plus 10 minutes for discussion. We will also accept a limited number of abstracts for two poster sessions. If the authors want to submit their works only as either paper presentations or posters, this should be stated clearly in their e-mail message to the organizers. Submissions are limited to one singly authored and one jointly authored abstract per author.

Abstracts cannot exceed one page of text, with 2.5 cm. margin on all four sides (A4 paper). Font: Times New Roman, 12 point; SILDoulos IPA93 for the phonetic symbols. Line spacing: single. Abstracts may include an extra page for references and examples. Lay-out: First line: title of the paper (in bold). Second line: author's name and e-mail address. Third line: affiliation. Fourth line: blank.

Abstracts should be sent electronically only, as MsWord or PDF attachments, to girona17cggudg.es (PDF format is required if the abstract contains special fonts, such as phonetic symbols, or figures.) One copy of the abstract must be sent anonymously and another one with the author's name, e-mail address, and affiliation.

Topic:The aim of GL workshops is to bring together diverse contributionsin philosophy, linguistics, computer science and lexicography toexplore the lexicon from the point of view of generativity. Thediscussions will be centered, but are not limited to, the emergingview of ''Generative Lexicon Theory'' (Pustejovsky). Topics include:

- Philosophical foundations of a generative approach- Generative lexicon theory and representation of word meaning- Analysis of linguistic phenomena in a generative perspective- Frameworks for lexical semantics- Philosophical differences between frameworks- Critical perspectives and evaluation

In this fourth workshop we would like to keep all the aboveperspectives, but put more of the focus on building on-line GLresources for NLP tasks, in particular:

- Arguments and counter-arguments in favour of a GL resource- Acquiring lexical information: methodology, tools, resources- Maintaining and evaluating GL resources on systematic grounds- Scalability for different NLP tasks

Papers can make reference to any semantic lexicons (Wordnet, Framenet,Meaning-text theory, etc.), but a link to Generative Lexicon theory isdesirable (Pustejovsky, 1995). Key topics are:

- How to build a Generative Lexicon?- How a Generative Lexicon can be extracted from existing resources or corpora?- How to connect qualia structures with other lexical information?- How to use qualia structures in NLP applications?

The conference will be held over a period of two days. Both postersand presentations are foreseen and will be published in theproceedings. Invited speakers include Robin Cooper, Alain Polguereand James Pustejovsky.

Submission procedure: Authors should submit an anonymous paper of atmost 7 single-column pages (including references) using a 12' bodyfont size together with a separate page specifying the author's name,affiliation, address, e-mail address, title and type of paper (normalpresentation or poster). The minimum size is 3 pages for a posterpaper and 5 pages for a normal paper.
