Description:

1. Position

Hokkaido University is pleased to announce one full-time tenured associate professor position in English language teaching at the Graduate School of Media and Communication.

2. Teaching duties

The successful applicant shall instruct English as a foreign language to undergraduate students, with particular emphasis on developing and operating online language learning systems. Additionally, the successful applicant shall instruct graduate students at either the Graduate School of Education Cooperation Chair in Multicultural Education, or at the Graduate School of International Media, Communication and Tourism Studies.

3. Qualifications

The successful applicant shall possess at least a master's degree. A PhD is strongly preferred.

The successful applicant shall have expertise in one or more of the following areas: (a) English language teaching, (b) language engineering, (c) e-learning, (d) corpus linguistics, (e) area studies, and (f) cross-cultural communication.

The successful applicant shall preferably have expertise in one of the following areas: (a) multicultural societies, (b) public relations and journalism, (c) language communication, or (d) media and culture studies.

The successful applicant shall have native or near-native fluency in the Japanese language sufficient to perform any administrative duties within the university.

The successful applicant may be a citizen of any nation.

(a) Curricula Vitae. Include email address.

(b) List of publications.

(c) Up to three major publications. Off-prints or photocopies are acceptable. Attach a one-thousand-character summary in Japanese, printed on A4 paper.

(d) Cover letter in Japanese, printed on A4 paper.

(e) One letter of recommendation.
