Subject: Intro Texts in Phonetics/Phonology for Language Teachers
I currently teach an introductory class in phonetics and phonology forMasters level students in Applied Linguistics who will go on to teach TESOL.
Question:
Can anyone on Linguist List recommend textbooks that could serve asintroductions to Phonetics and Phonology? Specifically, the target audiencesare Masters level students who plan on becoming Language Teachers (notjust TESOL) or, even possibly, Speech Pathologists? These students do notplan on pursuing careers in Linguistics beyond the MA. However, they needto be able to describe and assess intelligibility and phonological acquisitionin the language or languages that they teach.
I will post replies back to Linguist List, if I receive any. Gracias de antemano,or Thanks. - Richard Cameron
