Abstract:

This volume identifies historical metrics as an important discipline withinEnglish studies and raises significant questions about the composition andtransmission of early English verse. The chronological range of the bookcovers the Old English to the pre-Renaissance periods, while itstheoretical range is multidisciplinary.
