Meeting Description:
The next summer meeting of SPCL will be hosted by the University of Amsterdam, and will take place in Amsterdam, June 18-20, 2007. This will be a joint meeting with ACBLPE. The conference is dedicated to the memory of our esteemed colleague Jacques Arends, and we wish its theme to focus on the areas that he was most influential in developing, namely gradualism and population studies. We also invite papers on all other areas of contact linguistics and Pidgin and Creole studies.
2nd Call for Papers:
The joint SPCL/ACBLPE Summer Meeting 2007 will take place at the University of Amsterdam. Papers on all areas of contact linguistics and Pidgin and Creole studies are invited. We particularly welcome papers on gradualism and population studies, as we plan a special session on these topics, dedicated to the memory of Jacques Arends.
1. Submission guidelines (for SPCL only):
(a) Important note: To maximize the number of participants, only 1 paper per person, whether single or co-authored will be accepted for presentation.
(b) Two electronic versions of your abstract (500 words maximum) should be sent to spcl-fgwholding.uva.nl, and identify yourself by the conference name ''The Society for Pidgin and Creole Languages'' and ''Umberto Ansaldo'', the name under which the rooms are currently booked. Payment will be made directly by you to the hotel.
The reduced University rate is the following (per room, per night, and including all taxes).- single EUR 89.00,- standard twin EUR 99.00- large twin room EUR 114,00
Breakfast can be obtained for EUR 9,50 per person, per day.
Cancellation policy:42 - 30 days before arrival: 35% of the total cost.30 - 14 days before arrival: 60% of the total cost.14 - 07 days before arrival: 85% of the total cost.07 - 00 days before arrival: 100% of the total cost.

If you want to (and are able to) calculate the distance between the venue and a prospective hotel, please note that the venue will be the PCHoofthuis at the Spuistraat, to the west of the Royal Palace (at Dam Square).
If there is any information on streetcars having a stop near a prospective hotel, note that most streetcars go downtown, towards Central Station, and so have a stop near the venue. This is at least true for the numbers/lines: 1, 2, 5, 9, 10, 14, 16, 17, 24 and 25.

Meeting Description:
In recent years, the study of the interaction between different levels of linguistic knowledge has attracted increasing interest. In order to speak or understand a language we need to access different mechanisms whose interaction cannot be fully appreciated from a non-integrated approach. This workshop aims to bring together scholars who have been working on these issues providing cross-section, cutting-edge accounts of developments in the interfaces between phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, and pragmatics. The workshop will provide a forum for discussion of methods, theoretical perspectives, and accounts of the interaction between components of the language faculty.
Special Thematic Sessions:
We would like to encourage submission of papers and posters for two special sessions dealing with:(i) experimental approaches for the investigation of interfaces;(ii) implications of findings on interface issues in the applied linguistics field.
