Meeting Description:

Interspeech 2007 is the eighth conference in the annual series ofInterspeech events and also the tenth biennial Eurospeech conference. Theconference is jointly organized by scientists from the Netherlands andBelgium, and will be held in Antwerp, Belgium, August 27-31, 2007, under thesponsorship of the International Speech Communication Association (ISCA).

The Interspeech meetings are considered to be the top internationalconferences in spoken language processing, with more than 1000 attendeesfrom universities, industry, and government agencies. The conference offersthe prospect of meeting the future leaders of our field, exchanging ideas,and exploring opportunities for collaboration, employment, and sales throughkeynote talks, tutorials, technical sessions, exhibits, and poster sessions.In recent years the Interspeech meetings have taken place in a number ofexciting venues including most recently Pittsburgh, Lisbon, Jeju Island(Korea), Geneva, Denver, Aalborg (Denmark), and Beijing.


2nd Call for Papers

ISCA and the Interspeech 2007 organizing committee would like toencourage submission of papers for the upcoming conference. Thisconference is jointly organized by scientists from the Netherlandsand Belgium, and will be held in Antwerp (August 27-31, 2007).

Paper Submission:

The deadline for full paper submission (4 pages) is March 23, 2007.Paper submission is done exclusively via the conference website,using the submission guidelines. These guidelines will mention thatauthors also have the opportunity to include a restricted number ofmultimedia files in their submission.

Previously-published papers should not be submitted, nor papersalready submitted and/or accepted for publication in journals orupcoming conferences.

At the time of submission, authors will have the opportunity tospecify that they would like to present their paper in one of theSpecial Sessions. All the information on Special Sessions and howto contribute to them will be available on the Interspeech 2007website by the time the paper submission opens.

Each corresponding author will be notified by e-mail of the acceptanceor rejection of her/his paper by May 25, 2007. Minor updates of acceptedpapers will be allowed during May 25 - June 3, 2007.

Meeting Description:

In March 1992 the University of Manchester hosted its first Postgraduate Linguistics Conference. Since then, this annual event has gained popularity and it now draws participants from across the world to exchange ideas in a relaxed but stimulating environment.

The aim of the conference is to bring together postgraduates from within the various areas of the discipline for them to present current research to their peers. A well-known guest speaker will be invited to give the plenary talk (details to be confirmed). We hope the day will be rewarding for all, both in learning and establishing new contacts.

The PG Conference will be held at the University of Manchester on Friday 20th April 2007, from 9.00am to 6.00pm.

Any postgraduate student (MA or PhD) is very welcome to submit an abstract on any topic related to linguistics.


Papers will be 20 minutes in length plus 10 minutes discussion.

Parallel sessions will allow twenty papers to be given.

Refreshments and lunch will be provided during the day (payment included in the registration fee), and an informal conference dinner in the evening will also be organised for all those interested. Suggestions for overnight accommodation can be provided on request.
