The Young Bin Min-KF University Lecturership in Korean Language and Linguistics with Tutorial Fellowship at Hertford College, University Grade 10, £37,642 - £50,589 per annum.

The University proposes to appoint a University Lecturer in Korean Language and Linguistics in association with Hertford College. The appointment will run from 1 September 2007, or as soon as possible thereafter.

The post represents an outstanding opportunity to take part in developing Korean Studies and East Asian linguistics at the University of Oxford. The appointee will be required to give lectures, classes, and tutorials at both graduate and undergraduate levels in Korean Language and Linguistics, including language teaching and general and advanced Korean linguistics; to take part in developing courses and degrees in Korean Studies and in East Asian linguistics; to coordinate teaching at all levels; to carry out research; to examine and supervise graduate students, and to play a part in the administrative work of the Faculty of Oriental Studies. The Lecturer will be expected to have a primary expertise in Korean language and linguistics, with a competence to teach and supervise over a wide range of topics within the field. He or she will have near native fluency in modern Korean, some knowledge of pre-modern Korean, and a demonstrable teaching competence in East Asian Language and Linguistics. Applicants should hold, or expect to hold by the start of the appointment, a doctorate in the broad field of Korean Language and Linguistics, and be able to provide evidence of their ability to teach at University level. The successful candidate must also have substantial publications, or evidence of forthcoming substantial publications.
