Description:

The Department of Linguistics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) invites applications for a three-year full-time Lecturer in Hindi in its Languages Program, beginning August 16, 2006. The position is renewable beyond three years contingent on funding and periodic satisfactory evaluation of performance. We seek a candidate who is able to teach courses in Hindi at all levels and willing to participate in a full range of Hindi language program activities. Required are a Ph.D. degree in Hindi language pedagogy, second language acquisition, linguistics, or a related field, experience teaching Hindi at the university level, and high proficiency in both Hindi and English. Experience with Hindi language teaching materials development, especially those involving computer-based instructional technologies, is preferred. The salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications.
