Abstract:

Henk van Riemsdijk has long been known as one of Europe's most importantlinguists. His seminal ideas have been influential in developing generativegrammar in Europe and beyond. The importance of these contributions ismatched only by his talent for organizing the field. As the initiator,co-founder, and chair of the GLOW society, he made the society the leadingplatform of European generative linguistics. He has also been editor of theseries Studies in Generative Grammar since its foundation. As a teacher andsupervisor, he has inspired generations of students in the Netherlands andabroad. On the occasion of his relocation from the Netherlands to Italy,his friends, students and colleagues celebrate Henk van Riemsdijk's workwith this collection of essays on numerous topics of current theoreticalinterest.

Hans Broekhuis is Lecturer at the Linguistics Department, University ofTilburg, The Netherlands.Norbert Corver is Professor of Dutch Linguistics at the University ofUtrecht, The Netherlands.Riny Huybregts teaches at the Department of Linguistics at the Universityof Utrecht, The Netherlands.Ursula Kleinhenz is the Editor in Charge of the Series SGG at Mouton deGruyter, Berlin, Germany.Jan Koster is Professor of Linguistics at the University of Groningen, TheNetherlands.
