I recently created a set of maps that depict many of the world's languages, displayed in a way that highlights various genetic classifications found inRuhlen's 1991 Guide to the World's Languages. If you are interested, youcan view the maps at www.gmi.org/wlms/users/huffman, where they are postedalong with a short description of what I was trying to do. I currently havethe following maps at that site:

Languages of the Horn of AfricaLanguages of ChinaGreenberg's proposed Eurasiatic phylumLanguages of Southeast AsiaLanguages of the Indian subcontinentLanguages of the SudanIndoEuropean Languages

They are in PDF format, and you are welcome to download them and print themout - though you will need a good plotter to really do them justice (justfor fun, I printed the map of the languages of Africa as a 12 foot by 12foot wall covering).I have found these to be excellent tools to teach folks about the densityand diversity of the world's languages.
