University or Organization: Technische Universitaet Muenchen Department: Informatik, Robotics and Embedded Systems Job Rank: Scientist Specialty Areas: Computational Linguistics; Computer Science Required Language(s): English (eng)

Description:

In the EU integrated project "JAST - Joint Action Science and Technology", researchers from eight leading European research institutions located in five European member states are collaborating in developing jointly-acting autonomous systems that communicate and work intelligently on mutual tasks in dynamic unstructured environments. This is a goal that reaches beyond the traditional study of individual cognitive systems. More information is available on the project website at http://www.jast-net.gr/.

For work on this project, partner Technische Universität München (Germany) is offering a position for a

Computational Linguist / Computer Scientist

The tasks to be worked on include the integration of speech recognition and language processing with image processing, intelligent agent architectures, and system integration.

The job requires a sound theoretical background in semantics and pragmatics along with good programming skills (ideally in C++/Java and Prolog). The ideal candidate should have a university degree in computational

linguistics, computer science, or mathematics.

Applications are welcome from candidates at the post-doc or the Master's level. For candidates without a doctoral degree, there is the possibility of pursuing a PhD degree in computer science. A good knowledge of spoken and written English is required, along with a disposition to spend time at other partner institutions.
