XVII. Deutscher Hispanistentag
XVII Congreso de la Asociación Alemana de Hispanistas
Congress of the German Association of Hispanists
'Español universal - Nuevos horizontes de los estudios hispánicos'
18th-21st March 2009
Tübingen University

Never has the presence of Spanish worldwide been as visible as today and never
before has the interest in the Spanish language and Hispanic culture(s) been as
lively - notably in German-speaking countries. The rise of Spanish in scholarly
research and teaching brings about a new role for the discipline.

The biannual Congress of the German Association Hispanists as the largest venue
of its kind in the German-speaking area provides an excellent forum for
presenting the dynamics of the discipline and for public discussion of the new
role of Hispanic studies at large.
