The Academic Department at Pagoda Academy (est.1969), invites applicationsfor the position of Head Teacher Trainer and as Academic Director. We arelooking for 2 capable candidates and the starting date is flexible.
Position: Academic DirectorSalary: $45,000 to $60,000 depending on experienceLocation: Seoul, South Korea
Qualifications include:1. A PhD in TESOL, Linguistics or related2. Experience in curriculum development3. Fluent Korean and English
A thorough knowledge of teaching methodologies, TOEIC/TOEFL/IELTS, TESOLand TEAP is desirable as the duties will include supervising all of ourTOEIC/TOEFL and EAP curriculum development. The candidate will also beresponsible for conducting 2 seminars in professional development andinstruction during the contract term.
The R&D department at Pagoda researches current methods of languageteaching and learning as well as develops, manages, edits, and evaluatesmaterials. Conversational materials developed may be topical, functional orgrammatical with an emphasis on developing learners' capacity to conversein communicative contexts related to everyday life. The Pagoda IntensiveProgram (PIP) is developed to prepare students for higher education abroad.This unique, integrated program is designed to improve learners'communicative competence, namely in academic contexts. Materialsdevelopment for standardized testing include iBT TOEFL and TOEICpreparation course books. New projects currently being developed by ourresearchers include designing materials for business communication, agrammar series aimed at improving learners' grammar proficiency throughcommunication, and a basic writing skills series.
Position: Head Teacher TrainerSalary: $35,000 to $45,000 depending on experienceLocation: Seoul, South Korea
Qualifications include:1. A MA in English, TESOL, Applied Linguistics or a related field or DELTA.2. Experience teaching adult learners in ESL & EAP.3. Experience training teachers in TESOL and TEAP is preferred.
Candidates who have a thorough knowledge of current language acquisitionmethodologies and practical teaching experience in ESL, EAP and BusinessEnglish will be given preference. The Head Trainer will train incoming andcurrent teachers in the latest teaching methodologies using the existingtraining material and their own material. The Head Trainer, with the helpof our R&D Department will revise the training program and eventuallydevelop a TESOL/TEFL accredited training program.
Pagoda was founded in 1969 by Go In-Gyung and Park Kyung-Sil with theobjective of developing foreign language education in Korea. Pagoda hasgrown considerably since then and currently employs over 150 foreignteachers who teach over 5000 students each month at 6 branches. Pagoda hasa further 10,000 students each month taking TOEIC, TOEFL, Japanese,Chinese, Spanish and other classes.
