Job Description

Are you driven individuals who enjoy solving challenging problems inbuilding the next generation of web search?

At Ask.com, we are looking for candidates to join our Edison, NJ office,where teams push web search to the next level by finding the direct answersfor user questions. Users will no longer need to browse pages and pages tolocate the piece of information they really want.

It's an exciting and challenging mission with issues such as learning userintention, mining and classification of the web data, entity and relationextraction, answer ranking, semantic invariance, etc.

Responsibilities

* Propose and explore innovative methods for more effective questionanswering * Improve existing answer products for the better precision andcoverage as well as the user experience * Build high performance software module or system to serve the userquestions * Contribute novel ideas to address constantly emerging challenges



Skills and Experience

Required

* Hands-on experience in information retrieval and related areas, within-depth knowledge of NLP (experience with text mining and machine learningis a big plus) * Hands-on experience in information retrieval, machine learning andrelated areas (in-depth knowledge of text mining and classification) * Solid understanding of algorithmic complexity and a proven ability todeliver quality code * Fast prototyping skills, familiarity with scripting languages, suchas bash, Perl, or Python * Self-directed and capable of working effectively in a highly dynamicand fast-paced environment * Effective problem solving skills, effective personal and groupcommunication skills, passion to excel * PhD degree in computer science or related fields, or Master degreewith 5+ years related working experience



Desired

* Familiar with C/C++ programming language * Substantial knowledge of UNIX/Linux, including developmentenvironment, command utilities
