The Department of Applied Language Studies and LinguisticsThe Faculty of ArtsVacancy Number: 11900

Applications are invited for the position of Lecturer/Senior Lecturer inApplied Language Studies. This is a permanent appointment, commencing 1February 2011.

The successful applicant will be expected to make a significantcontribution to the Department's teaching, research and administration andalso to participate in service activities for the Faculty of Arts andUniversity. The successful applicant will also be expected to teachundergraduate and postgraduate courses in Language Teaching and Learning,to carry out research and publish research results, and to supervisepostgraduate research at the masters and doctoral levels.

The desired areas of specialization are in second language acquisition andlanguage teaching methodology. Expertise in one or more of the followingareas would also be an advantage:- Statistical analysis- Use of technology in language teaching- Bilingual education.

Applicants should have a PhD in Second Language Acquisition, AppliedLinguistics, TESOL or a closely related field, as well as experience ofteaching and research supervision at the undergraduate and postgraduatelevels. An established record of research and publications in the field isalso required.
