Description:
The Machine Translation research group at the Institute of ComputationalLinguistics of the University of Zurich is looking for a PhD student towork in the project 'Domain-specific Statistical Machine Translation'. Theproject aims at building machine translation systems for alpine texts (suchas mountaineering reports) between English, French and German.
Qualifications:- Master or Diploma in Computational Linguistics or related field- Languages: good English skills, basic skills in German and French- Good programming skills- Experience in Statistical Machine Translation is a plus
Tasks:- Corpus preparation of our alpine text collection from the British andSwiss Alpine Clubs- Named-entity recognition and term extraction over the alpine text collection- Exploitation of parallel and comparable parts of the corpus- Experiments in Statistical Machine Translation
