As part of an AHRC project looking at variation and change in the lexis ofScottish fishing communities, you, along with the principal investigator,Dr. Robert McColl Millar, and another research assistant, will be involvedin the creation and application of research instruments to study lexicalchange and attrition in the lexical patterns of a representative sample ofScottish fishing communities and contribute to the writing up of theproject's findings. You should have a PhD in Sociolinguistics, Dialectologyand/or Historical Linguistics, with a fair understanding of recentstatistical packages along with sound IT skills. Some knowledge of theScottish linguistic situation would also be helpful. Due to the nature ofwork a driving license or access to independent means of transport areessential.
Salary will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 5 scale (£25,001 -£26,523 per annum) with placement according to qualifications and experience.
